Dani Olmo has been linked to Barcelona for a good number of years. Although nine years after the Spanish initially left as a teenager and despite a change in administration, it appears the club is still interested in bringing him back.

Olmo, an attacking midfielder who currently represents RB Leipzig, is a versatile player who can also play on the wing and in the centre. This season, he has two goals and four assists in the Bundesliga.

Olmo is still on Barcelona's radar, according to sources from Mundo Deportivo, and the club has reportedly asked him not to extend his Leipzig deal.

The meeting between the player's entourage and the Barça administration, including Xavi himself, apparently took place at the World Cup in Qatar. The player has long been admired by the coach.

Olmo's current deal expires in 2024, and Barcelona intends to pursue him in the summer transfer window of that year.

The 24-year-old has previously been targeted by the blaugranes, with their most recent attempt coming on the final day of the summer transfer market. After Leipzig ultimately resisted selling the player at that point, Barcelona began to seek Ferran Torres in the winter.

Barcelona would make an early attempt to get him this summer, but Leipzig's asking price of €40 million is now well beyond the reach of the La Liga giants. Before making any changes during the summer, they will be expecting to find a solution to their financial fair play problems.
